Dear Hayley,

I'm assuming you're still hungover, so I'll make this brief.

Last night, you slipped under my sheets (without my permission), and we almost had sex. I got the hell out of the bed once I realized it was you, and I took you home.

That's the story.

The end.

Period.

Just in case you've forgotten, you're my best friend's little sister. We will never be anything more. (We can't be anything more.) Our previous friendship is still unresolved--or "over" in your terms, so I'd prefer if we worked on becoming 'just friends' again since you're in town.

Nonetheless, I'm not a man who leaves questions unanswered--even the drunken ones, so to properly close our inappropriate conversation:

1) Yes, I liked the way your lips felt against mine when you were on top of me.
2) Yes, I do "prefer" rough sex, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't rough with you.
3) No, I had no idea you were still a virgin...

This message never happened,

Corey

Caroline's Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fairly quick, enjoyable rom-com.

Growing up, Corey was Hayley's brother's best friend. When her brother went off to college, Corey became Hayley's best friend. Until she cut off all ties with him without explanation.

"Even disheveled and intoxicated, she was a vision, and I knew from this moment on that her being in the same city was going to be a problem."

Years later, Hayley is back in Corey's life. Both are all grown up and their instant attraction is mutual. As her brother's best and most trusted friend, and also his business associate, Hayley is off-limits to Corey. However, when Hayley ends up living temporarily at Corey's house, things heat up between them - a real mix of hostility, sexual tension, and longing for their friendship of long ago.

This was a great read. I loved Hayley's determination to follow her dreams and make her own way in the world, without relying on her brother's wealth. She was sassy, gutsy, and a little bit vulnerable. Corey tried to be a hardass but his feelings for Hayley reached a tipping point. I adored how much he desired her and fantasized about her.

"No matter what I did to get her off my mind, images of her face and sounds of her raspy laughter seeped into my morning coffee, my dreams, and every waking thought."

I loved the banter, the funny emails between the characters, the sexcapades, and even the underlying unpleasantness of the characters' childhood backgrounds, which gave the characters more depth.

I love this author's style and the way she crafts her stories, and can't wait for her next offering.
