REVIEW: Firefly by Molly McAdams

Firefly (Redemption #2) by Molly McAdams

The next captivating installment in New York Times bestselling author Molly McAdams’s Redemption series.

As the Princess of the Irish-American Mob, there’s no shortage of men ready to help guard and protect me. To slowly suffocate me to the point of seeking freedom—a place where I can breathe.

Kieran Hayes has been saving me for as long as I can remember. It’s in his blood, and one of the many reasons I fell in love with him. Until my favorite trait became his biggest flaw, making me resent the man I love. An unwavering warrior, his love for me has been shrouded by those instincts.

Save Lily. Protect Lily. Hide Lily. Cage Lily.

What I wasn’t prepared for was Dare—the man who would set my world on fire with just one touch. He saw straight through to my soul, as though he knew I was desperate for freedom, and silently demanded my heart from the beginning.

And I didn’t expect Dare to be Demitri Borello—the reason for so many deaths in my family. A man who will take my life the moment he finds out who I am.

Despite it all, I’ll love him until that moment comes.

A fire will die if there is no oxygen for it to consume. Ours is rapidly stealing every last breath we can sacrifice to it.

Julie's Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I wished I had hidden myself away from life, whilst reading this intriguing, thrilling, suspenseful book. It was hard to have to put it down, but being at a festival with both vying for my attention, I had to leave the book for a few hours, thus causing me to only half-heartedly be interested in the festival.

This books draws you in and, every time I picked the book up again, I was straight back into Lily/Elle's life, her torment, her heartache and her fear.

The prologue brings you straight into the action, and leaves you slightly numb, thinking shizzums! What am I about to read?

Lily had to deal with losing Aric, her brother, and then her family deciding she was going into hiding, believed dead. Four years she was being protected, she had a great friend in Beck, although there was more to him than you actually realise. He really had her best interests at heart, even though she did not see it that way.

Kieran, her boyfriend, and protector, was also her brother's best friend, and was hiding and keeping things from her. As much as she tried, she felt they were drifting away.

Mob princesses, drug rings, tit-for-tat killings, and family honor has a way of keeping you enthralled and engrossed in Lily's story.

Then we meet Dare, who we slowly get to know, see how very opposite he is compared to Kieran, but oh so similar. He also has a family he would do anything for, who were fantastic as a team, even when a stranger turns up in their midst.

There is a love triangle, a staple among Molly's stories, but you most definitely want Lily/Elle to get the life and happiness she really deserves.

Here are two very different people, from a similar but also very different worlds, begin to get to know about each other. They become very entwined only to find out there are some very huge secrets being kept and developments headed their way.

Lily had been so clearly kept in the dark, for so long, that she blossomed once she felt freedom. She chose her life and world with great care and, whilst I thought Kieran gave up without too much trouble, he did love her and did the honorable thing, even though he was devastated once he realised how it all came about.

I loved the will they/wont they running throughout and loved how it was all interwoven, how everything unraveled, and how life and love won out.
