Blurb

Her lips, the way she feels, how she moves against me. Her voice when she laughs, her eyes when she cries. Her soul connected to mine, for better or for worse, for all eternity.

I don't remember.

A blank face. Unrecognizable. The darkness and impenetrable fog, day after day after day. Who am I? And for that matter, who is she?

I can't remember.

Two sides to the same coin – one wants to remember, and the other wants to stay forgotten. Which side will win? Can he trust his heart to bring him back to her? Or will she stay lost in the fog forever?

I might never remember.

Warning: features adult themes

Caroline's Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐

"In love we trust."

So, how to write a review without giving away the plot??

From the blurb, we garner that the protagonist is an amnesiac. When he first wakes up after a traumatic incident, he has no idea who he is.

Then the story proceeds to unfold by moving between the present and the past - before and after his memory loss. Who he was then and who he is now - two very different people. Every so often, something jogs his senses and a snippet of the past comes to him but, frustratingly, not the whole picture.

It isn't until his past collides with his present that his previous life is brought to light. A life that was pretty underwhelming, except for the woman who was his forever love.

"His mind didn't remember her at all, but his body seemed to know every inch of her. All he knew was her skin felt like home and that when she breathed, he was the one taking in the oxygen."

This was a hugely thought-provoking story. A man with absolutely no recollection of his life pre-amnesia, yet recognises the most important person in his life through the power of love. A man torn between yesterday and today, and unwilling to be the person he learnt he was previously. Unfortunately, he is unable to move forward properly until he learns to be the person he is today - or, a mixture of the two personas. It was almost like he needed to nearly die before he could turn his purposeless life around.

This novel was angsty, emotional, despairing, hopeful, and life-affirming. A fascinating read.

Author Bio

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
