Ellie Pagan has a list of reasons to stay away from Ford Landry.

It’s a mile long and was so much easier to stick to when he was a world away. Now that he’s standing in front of her—body hard and chiseled from a stint in the military, suit cut to perfection, and a smirk she could never resist—remembering all the reasons why just got a whole lot harder.

Ford gets Ellie isn’t his biggest fan. He just doesn’t care.

Standing in front of him, giving him hell, she’s even prettier than he remembered. All he can think about is how she felt in his arms, the taste of her kiss, the sound of her giggle in the middle of the night. He may not know how to win her back, but he does know this: he may have let her go once, but that’s one mistake he won’t make again.

Caroline's Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Before now, Ellie was a part of my past and someone I wanted to test the waters going forward with. Now, I realize she’s my past. And my future. There’s no other way around it.”

Ford Landry is back in his hometown and building up the security arm of the family business. He sees that his brothers have all settled down and he yearns for what they have. He’s fed up of casual sex where no one measures up to the one girl from his past. He’d had something good once, really good, but he ran away from it.

“Well, I knew I loved him the minute I saw him…I just need to know that this time, if there is a ‘this time’, it’s for real.”

Ellie is shocked to find Ford in her shop. Once upon a time, he broke her heart into a million pieces, but she eventually, albeit painfully, moved on. However, his presence back in her life throws her emotions into a turmoil, especially as he seems determined to reconnect with her.

“I’m not just going to walk away from you again that easily.”

Ford is nothing if not persistent. He’s always loved Ellie and now that life has given him a second chance with her, again, he is sworn to prove that he’s sorry, that he wants her back, and that he’s not going anywhere. He’s never leaving her behind, again. Unfortunately, his work is cut out for him because although they have chemistry in spades, her trust in him is practically non-existent, but he’s willing to work hard to win her - with a lot of patience and a lot of fight.

“She’s mine. Not in some mock-caveman way. It’s not like that at all. She’s mine because as much as she belongs to me, I belong with her.”

I ADORED this book! It was sweet, steamy, humorous, a little bit sad, and SUCH a swoonworthy ending! Ford is such a nice guy who made a rash decision when he was young out of fear and out of love. Now that Ellie is back in his town and his sphere, there’s no way he’s not going to attempt to win her back. Ellie has worked hard to become the independent, strong woman she is today, but Ford’s reappearance in her life throws her equilibrium out of kilter. She feels almost powerless against his charisma, his good looks, the familiarity of him, and the beautiful memories between them.

I loved Ford’s single-mindedness. I loved the evolving relationship between Ellie and him, their rediscovery of one another, and how Ellie begins to lean on him and trust him, again. And, I loved the family dynamics of the Landry clan. They are so close, so funny, and so supportive.

This was such a gorgeous story with lots of feels and the ending totally melted my heart!
